Brand Leader
STEVE CARLISLE
President,
Cadillac
When he was named president of GM Canada, Steve Carlisle was charged with rebuilding the automaker’s dealer relations and reviving middling sales numbers. He did just that; last year, General Motors was No. 1 in automotive retail sales in Canada.
His reputation as a turnaround artist will be put to the test at Cadillac. The brand was to unveil a new or redesigned vehicle about once every six months through 2020 as part of a global growth strategy. Cadillac’s headquarters will return to the Detroit area from New York, a move aimed at bringing brand executives closer to the engineers designing vehicles.
Now, it will be up to Carlisle to make sure Cadillac’s new product line sells well after years of sluggish sales and rocky dealer relations in the United States
