Susan Gubasta, 51, shattered the glass ceiling this year when she became the first woman to lead the Trillium Automobile Dealers’ Association, which represents 1,100 new-vehicle dealers in Ontario.

In April 2019, Gubasta, CEO of Mississauga Toyota, will take over as president of the 2020 Canadian International AutoShow, in Toronto — another first for a woman. 

Under her leadership, TADA has lobbied successfully for provincial-government policy changes, including the end of Ontario’s Drive Clean Program as well as renewed efforts to cut costly red tape. 

In response to the dearth of women in the industry, TADA recent- ly launched a mentorship program designed to connect post-secondary students with auto-industry leaders who can offer support and advice while encouraging young women to consider careers in automotive retailing.
