This team of three has taken upstart Vietnam-based EV maker Vinfast’s Canadian operations from a nonentity to opening its first two stores — contemporary outlets in Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall and Montreal’s CF Carrefour Laval shopping centre — in less than two years.

It’s a no-holds-barred fight for market presence as the company aggressively positions itself in the burgeoning EV space. Huynh Du An, the Canadian CEO, Gene Fong, 46, head of marketing, and John Lindo, 45, director of corporate communications, plan to deliver the first Vinfast vehicle to Canadian customers by the end of 2022.

As part of its marketing plans, the company hosted four five-day visits to Vietnam for journalists from around the world, including 30 Canadians, visiting the parent company’s assembly complex.
