General Manager Brad Haywood on changes made to hiring practices amid fallout from the pandemic and inventory shortages: We have focused our hiring on younger and less experienced staff with desire to learn and grow within the business. We have found great success hiring apprentices and growing them into licensed technicians and building a training path and relationship with them to create a skilled and winning team.
Haywood on steps taken to offer a longterm career path for employees: Our biggest focus to help foster a long-term career path is focusing on training and skills development. Our service department has done an excellent job with recruiting younger apprentices and growing them into licensed technicians. By investing in them with training and skills development we can grow our staff internally and promote from within as we continue to grow as a dealership group.
Haywood on how current inventory shortages has affected sales staff scheduling and workload: With the ongoing inventory shortages, we have managed to continue to grow our sales and [it] had very little impact on scheduling. With more factory orders being placed as opposed to purchasing something on the lot, we have given more days off to the sales staff during the week, which has been fantastic for staff morale and helps keep the sales staff motivated and rested throughout the week.
