Steele Auto Group continues to expand in Eastern Canada with the purchase of Vantage Motors Volkswagen, of Truro, N.S., a transaction that was a dying wish of the store’s late owner.
Derek Lugar operated Vantage Motors for more than 30 years. He died in the spring, and he wanted the dealership to eventually become part of the Steele group.
“As executor of my brother’s estate, I am pleased to follow through on Derek’s notion to hand the business over to Rob Steele and I pass along my best wishes for continued success of Vantage Motors here in Truro,” Lugar’s brother Jay said in a statement. “I am confident the Steele Auto Group will continue to offer our valued customers friendliness and excellence in customer service throughout the Volkswagen buying experience.”
Said Steele, “I had the pleasure of knowing Derek for many years and not only was he a successful business operator, he was a true gentleman. We will continue to deliver the exceptional customer service that has come to be expected.”
The acquisition brings Steele’s total number of dealerships to 55, selling 28 brands. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
