The 2021 Acura TLX Type S will arrive in Canadian showrooms on June 30 with a starting sticker price of $61,875, including shipping, Honda Canada said in a news release.
The performance variant is equipped with a newly developed turbocharged V-6 engine that makes 355 hp and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, compared with lesser versions of the sedan that come with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine and 272 hp.
The new Type S engine also will power the upcoming 2022 MDX Type S, Honda Canada said.
The Type S variant had previously been available in Canada on select models from the 2001 through 2010 model years.
“Type S is recognized by driving enthusiasts who seek a more dynamic driving experience with more power, improved handling and stronger braking,” the automaker said in its statement.
The TLX Type S receives exclusive Brembo four-piston front brakes, bigger wheels and wider tires, an additional Sport-plus driving mode and special exterior colors and interior trim accents — such as a gold "tiger-eye" exterior with white "orchid" leather on the inside.
Honda Canada says the car’s fuel efficiency is rated as 12.3 L per 100 kilometres in the city, 9.8 L/100 km highway and 11.2 L/100 km combined.
