    The Infiniti QX55
    Infiniti

    2022 INFINITI QX55

With its sloping roofline, the new QX55 crossover, shown above, is positioned as a coupe-like version of the QX50. A four cylinder engine with variable compression ratio generates 268 horsepower, and Infiniti’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system is standard. The QX55’s grille has an “origami-inspired” mesh pattern that Infiniti Canada says helps “deliver visual depth” while showcasing “modern Japanese-inspired artistry.”

    ZOOX ROBOTAXI

    Zoox

The autonomous-vehicle startup owned by Amazon says the robotaxi has no steering wheel and can drive up to four passengers at speeds up to 120 km/h. Electric motors are placed at both ends of the vehicle allowing it to drive in either direction, according to Bloomberg News. A 133-kilowatt-hour battery, which Zoox Inc. says is “one of the largest available in electric vehicles today,” allows the vehicle to drive for up to 16 hours per charge. Bloomberg reported that Zoox plans to launch an app-based ride-hailing service in San Francisco, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nev., before expanding to other countries.

    2021 BENTLEY BENTAYGA HYBRID

    Bentley

The brand has refreshed its only electrified vehicle, which looks nearly identical to the gasoline-powered version. According to Bentley, the Bentayga Hybrid will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 engine and an electric motor. Net output is 443 horsepower with a combined range of about 860 kilometres (50 kilometres on electric power). The interior is marked by a 10.9-inch infotainment screen with Bentley promising “superhigh-resolution graphics.”

    2021 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE L

    Stellantis

A longer model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee — restyled and with three rows of seats instead of two — will arrive in Canadian showrooms in the second quarter. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said the interior was designed to be spacious and it features 10-inch display screens across the instrument panel. Five ambient lighting colours will also be available. A 290-horsepower 3.6litre V-6 is standard and a 5.7-litre V-8 is optional.

    PROJECT ARROW

    APMA

The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) in January issued a request for proposals for Canadian suppliers looking to be part of Project Arrow. The vehicle — designed by students at postsecondary institutions and engineered and built by Canadian companies — is intended to showcase the country’s ability to build zero-emission vehicles. The APMA, which also unveiled new renderings of the project in January, expects the vehicle to go on tour in late 2022.
