CARS & CONCEPTS: New or refreshed offerings from VW, Acura, Polestar and more

The Volkswagen ID7, the automaker’s new flagship battery-electric sedan, above, is scheduled to arrive in Canada in the second half of 2024 with an estimated range of 700 kilometres. The roughly Passat-sized ID7 will initially get a 282-horsepower motor driving the rear wheels, although a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant is expected to join the lineup. The ID7’s fastback design and other aerodynamic features provide a drag coefficient of 0.23. The sedan will arrive in North America next year, following launches in Europe and China. Canadian pricing has not been disclosed.

2024 ACURA INTEGRA TYPE S

The Integra shares a platform with the Honda Civic and the new Integra Type S is therefore based on the Civic Type R. The compact sedan has a turbocharged 2.0litre four-cylinder engine that generates 320 horsepower, 120 more than the standard Integra. The centre-mounted exhaust outlets provides a five-horsepower edge over the Civic Type R. Drivers will have to shift for themselves as there is no automatic transmission available. The base price is $58,195, including $2,595 delivery.

2025 POLESTAR 4

The latest model from Polestar has no back window or rearview mirror. Visibility is instead provided by a rear facing camera and an interior screen that the company said will give drivers a wider, high-definition view. The Polestar 4 will also be the electric vehicle maker’s quickest model to date, reaching 60 mph (96 km/h) from rest in 3.7 seconds. The midsize crossover is scheduled to arrive in Canada in 2024. Polestar set a tentative price of $60,000 in the United States. Official Canadian pricing will be released once orders open.

2024 SUBARU IMPREZA

The automaker has fully embraced the hatchback as there are no sedan variants of the redesigned 2024 Impreza. True to form, the sixth generation of the compact hatchback has standard all-wheel drive. There are four trim levels and added standard active-safety technology such as pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-control assist. The Impreza starts at $28,790, including $1,995 delivery. It’s scheduled to arrive at Canadian dealers in late spring.

2024 LINCOLN NAUTILUS

Ford’s upscale division said it is looking to hook younger buyers with the redesigned 2024 Nautilus. The midsize crossover has updated exterior styling and new technology inside, including a pair of 24-inch screens running the full width of the dashboard. There’s a standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, while a new hybrid powertrain is an option for all trims. The redesigned Nautilus will start at $64,295 in Canada, including $2,395 delivery, with the first deliveries scheduled for early next year.
