Chevy Silverado EV sold out in Canada, customers must now join waiting list

General Motors Canada says the electric version of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado RST First Edition is sold out.

Customers who want an electric model of the automaker’s best-selling pickup can still go to Chevrolet.ca to reserve their spot on the wait list for the 2025 Silverado EV work truck or 2025 Silverado EV RST. 

GM declined to disclose the number of First Edition models available in Canada.

Allocation is based on factors, including market size and customer demand, GM Canada told Automotive News Canada in statement.

The automaker hasn’t said how many First Edition trucks will be part of the initial production run at Factory Zero, GM's electric truck plant in Detroit.

The electric, full-size work truck is designed for fleet buyers. It starts at $52,448 including shipping. At $119,948, the sold-out, fully loaded 2024 RST trim for retail customers will cost almost as much as the new GMC Hummer EV.

Both versions of the pickup arriving first will be offered exclusively as crew cab models. On the RST, storage capacity in the bed can be extended to more than nine feet between the cab and tailgate with Chevy's multi-flex midgate.

The Silverado will also be Chevy's first application of Ultifi, a new software platform that enables quick and frequent software updates.

Chevy will release lower-priced Silverado trims gradually.

The Silverado EV will be available at dealers across Canada.
