Longtime Canadian automotive executive Steve Carlisle has been nominated for election to AutoCanada’s board of directors, the dealership group announced March 26.
Carlisle spent more than four decades with General Motors. He recently retired from his position as executive vice-president and president of GM North America. Previously, he had been senior vice-president and president of Cadillac and president and managing director of General Motors of Canada.
“Steve brings extensive and unparalleled OEM experience and strategic acumen, offering invaluable guidance during a period of industry transformation, while bringing the perspective of our most important business partners to the boardroom,” AutoCanada Executive Director Paul Antony said in a statement.
Christopher Harris, currently a partner at Imperial Capital, a private equity firm based in Toronto, is also nominated for election. He is also a chartered professional accountant.
AutoCanada is looking to replace longtime Canadian auto consultant Dennis DesRosiers and Lee Matheson, who will be retiring from their positions on the company’s board. DesRosiers is the founder of DesRosiers Automotive Consultants and has served on the AutoCanada’s board since 2007. He retired from the majority of his automotive work in 2021 after a 52-year career.
Current directors Paul Antony, Rhonda English, Stephen Green, Barry James and Elias Olmeta have been nominated for re-election as directors.
Election will happen at the company's annual meeting of shareholders, scheduled for May 2.
AutoCanada, headquartered in Edmonton, is Canada’s only publicly traded dealership group and owns 66 franchised dealerships in Canada, as well as 18 in the United States.
