BMW is recalling about 3,000 vehicles in Canada because their driver’s seat belts might not lock properly during braking or in a crash.
The BMW 5 series from the 2016 model year as well as the BMW X1, Mini 5 Door and Mini Clubman from the 2016 and 2017 model years are affected.
Overall, 3,058 vehicles are affected.
Transport Canada warns in a recall notice on its website that a seat belt that does not lock properly in a crash could increase risk of injury.
BMW says it will notify owners via mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver’s seat belt assembly.
