Nissan Canada for the 2020 model year has upped the starting price of the compact Qashqai utility vehicle, which happens to be one of the brands best-sellers.
The 2020 Qashqai S with manual transmission will start at $23,448, including shipping. That’s an increase of $1,300 when compared with the entry-level 2019 model.
For that additional money, Nissan has made its Safety Shield 360 technologies standard on all 2020 Qashqai models. The safety suite includes intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warning, radar-based blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and high beam assist.
The 2020 Qashqai is available in three trims: S, SV and SL. Front- and all-wheel drive are options in the S and SV trims while awd is standard on the SL grade level.
“Most prominent among the 2020 Qashqai refinements is the new exterior design that offers a sportier feel – helping provide a greater separation from its Nissan Rogue stablemate,” Nissan Canada said in a statement Friday.
The vehicle has a new front-end appearance, along with redesigned available LED headlights and taillights. Trim level content and option packages have also been revised.
Nissan has sold 16,194 Qashqais through October, down 1.6 per cent over the same period last year. Only the Rogue outsells the Qashqai in Canada.
Nissan calls the Qashqai “a critical vehicle” in its CUV lineup.
