Volkswagen has announced pricing for its new 2022 Taos subcompact crossover, with the base model starting at $3,100 less than the base model of the similarly sized Tiguan.
The German brand said the base model front-wheel-drive Taos Trendline will start at $28,645 including delivery when it arrives in Canadian dealerships in July and will be available in three trim levels. The top two trims will come with standard all-wheel drive. The top-end Taos Highline will be priced at $38,645 to start. The mid-grade Taos Comfortable will start at $34,345. Both prices include shipping.
The Taos is part of a brand strategy to double up in popular crossover segments, as it did last year when it introduced the two-row Atlas Cross Sport to accompany its three-row Atlas.
