Two Canadian auto suppliers are nominated for 2022 Automotive News PACE Awards.
The PACE Award is recognized in the global automotive industry for identifying and celebrating the latest game-changing innovation from the plant floor to the product to the showroom floor.
Here’s a look at the nominated products Magna International and Martinrea International:
MAGNA INTERNATIONAL:
WHAT: 4D digital radar
INNOVATION: ICON 4D Radar is a software-defined digital imaging radar, achieving performance levels that open the door for the future of autonomous driving. Scanning the environment in four dimensions with 16 times better resolution and 30 times better contrast than analog, ICON Radar can see a stalled car inside a dark tunnel or detect a child running into traffic from behind a truck that a human driver is likely to miss.

WHAT: Brake lines with GrapheneGuard
INNOVATION: Martinrea’s GrapheneGuard eliminates the need for extra protective layers on standard nylon-coated brake lines, yielding abrasion protection and weight savings. When used in place of traditional nylon and coextruded polypropylene layers, GrapheneGuard can provide weight savings of as much as 25 percent while simultaneously demonstrating superior abrasion protection, improved strength and better chemical resistance.
