Quebec “superminister” Pierre Fitzgibbon says he is leaving office because he lost motivation to do the job.
Fitzgibbon, who held the economy and energy portfolios, told reporters in Rimouski, Que., on Sept. 4 he's quitting two years ahead of the provincial election — and right before hearings are to begin on his massive energy reform bill.
Fitzgibbon was the driving force behind Quebec’s electric-vehicle manufacturing industry. He also supported and pushed for lithium mining projects for EV batteries, as well the factories to refine those materials and ones to manufacture the batteries.
