Unifor has begun internal preparations for next year’s contract negotiations with the Detroit Three automakers, and has opened communications with the United Auto Workers, as the two unions prepare to bargain with Ford, General Motors and Stellantis in the same year for the first time.
“Work has started,” said Unifor’s newly elected President Lana Payne at the launch of the union’s new auto policy Aug. 11.
“We’ll be working really hard over the coming year to do that work and have our committees ready.”
