Electric-vehicle maker Fisker says most Canadian deliveries of the Fisker Ocean One SUV will be completed by the end of September and that it plans to establish retail and service locations in two major Canadian markets.
However, Fisker doesn’t comment on the number of reservations or orders it has received and filled. And, it’s still waiting for the vehicle to receive government approval.
“The company expects to complete homologation in Canada of the Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV, currently being delivered in the US and in European launch markets, by September 7th,” the automaker said in a statement.
CEO Henrik Fisker said only that the automaker has “strong reservations and a solid bank of orders for the Fisker Ocean in Canada.”
Like many EV startups, Fisker doesn’t use a dealership model.
But, the company intends to establish retail and service locations in Vancouver and Toronto. It also plans “Fisker-certified collision-repair centres.”
For its previous retail, delivery and service locations in the United States, it has obtained or remade spaces in launch markets. A recent example is the flagship Fisker Lounge location at The Grove, a popular outdoor shopping and entertainment district din Los Angeles.
Customers can schedule Fisker Ocean test drives online or in store at the location.
“Fisker selected Vancouver and Toronto for our initial retail and service locations due to strong reservations and orders in both markets, as well as operational considerations,” a Fisker spokesperson told Automotive News Canada. “Fisker is also planning additional locations outside of these markets."
Fisker plans to offer pop-up test drive events in the Vancouver and Toronto areas in September, with more events to follow through the fall.
The company did not comment on specific sites or say when test drives in Canada will begin.
