Dodge teases next-generation Charger in U.S. holiday ad

The current generation of the Dodge Charger is on its way out, but the brand is using the holiday season to preview what's to come.

In a new ad touting its outgoing muscle cars and the Durango SUV, Dodge gives a quick glimpse of the next Charger's potential design. The spot shows an illustration teasing the production version of the electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept that was first shown in 2022.

Stellnatis representatives in Canada said the ad will only run in the United States, but it is available on YouTube. You can watch it below:

Not much has changed from the concept. The model depicted in the ad has traditional headlights instead of the one long strip on the concept that spans the front of the vehicle, but it retains the two-door coupe layout.

The fine print says the model will be available in late 2024.

Dodge said the Charger Daytona SRT Concept is outfitted with an industry-first exhaust-sound system for an electric vehicle. The sound, which can reach 126 decibels and is as loud as today's Hellcat-powered vehicles, is sent through an amplifier and tuning chamber at the rear of the vehicle.

Dodge said the concept's 800V Banshee propulsion system will be the brand's new pinnacle of performance. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said during the concept's debut that it will launch with three power levels.

Dodge plans to offer six more power levels through its Direct Connection parts brand. Attaining the higher levels, Kuniskis said, could require software and hardware modifications.

AutoForecast Solutions says the next Charger could get a four-door version as well.

Dodge hasn't revealed plans for a possible gasoline version, but the brand has been testing the 3.0-liter Hurricane engine that is rolling out across the Stellantis portfolio, including in the upcoming freshened Ram 1500.

Dodge showed what the Hurricane can do by putting it in a Challenger Drag Pak and letting it loose on the drag strip during the Roadkill Nights muscle car event in the Detroit area in August. A source said the vehicle had a stock HurriCrate CAT3 engine capable of up to 550 hp.
