An executive with experience launching an electric vehicle and overhauling a brand’s lineup is the new president of BMW Canada.
David George began in his new role March 1. Previously, he was director for MINI U.K., where, according to a news release, he “was responsible for restructuring the MINI product portfolio, the successful launch of the MINI Electric and overseeing growth of the brand’s market share in the U.K.”
George, who joined BMW in 2018, replaces Reiner Braun, who is moving to become the CEO of BMW Group Latin America after two years at the helm. Braun has been with BMW since 1999.
“I want to thank and congratulate Reiner on all of his achievements over the past two years,” Sebastian Mackensen, CEO of BMW of North America, said in the release. “David’s next role in Canada will offer him a new challenge and I’m confident he will capitalize on the current, positive momentum to succeed in our very important Canadian market.”
BMW also announced that Carola Erlewein, CEO of BMW Group Financial Services Canada, has been assigned to the role of strategic lead supporting the customer, brand and sales system with BMW AG. Her successor in Canada will be announced at a later date.
