    2024 Ram 1500 TRX 6.2L Supercharged V8 - Final Edition

Ram's high-performance 1500 TRX will go out of production at the end of this year.

The swift and powerful pickup, equipped with the supercharged 6.2-litre V-8 engine made famous in Dodge's Hellcat muscle cars, was introduced in 2020. It features 702 hp, 650 pound-feet of torque and a 0-to-100-km/h time of 4.5 seconds.

Ram is marking the end of the TRX's run with a 2024 Final Edition model that comes in eight colors, including the new Delmonico Red, Night Edge Blue and Harvest Sunrise. The truck costs $153,065 with shipping.

Stellantis said the Final Edition offers exclusives such as satin titanium bead lock-capable wheels with a matching 6.2-litre hood badge and bed decal. The interior has patina stitching on the dashboard, door panels and seats, as well as an embroidered TRX seat back logo. Just 4,000 will be sold worldwide.

The idea for the TRX — a play on "T. rex" — came from former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Mike Manley when he oversaw Ram. Manley challenged designers and engineers to build a truck that could drive at sustained speeds of more than 100 mph off-road.

"The introduction of the Ram 1500 TRX ushered in a significant shift in off-road performance trucks with a halo effect that will last for years to come," Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a statement. "This current chapter in Ram's high-performance trucks is coming to a close, but it's not the end of TRX's story."

Kuniskis said the company would explain that comment "at a later date."

The TRX continued a tradition of blazing pickups from FCA and its predecessors.

Karl Brauer, executive analyst at iSeeCars, said in a 2020 interview that Dodge's Li'l Red Express pickup from the late 1970s "was quicker than the Corvette at the time, and it was quicker than the Pontiac Firebird."

In the early 2000s, the automaker pushed the envelope again with the Dodge Ram SRT-10, a pickup outfitted with a 500-hp V-10 engine that debuted for the 2004 model year. The automaker called the SRT-10 the "Viper of pickup trucks" and earned a Guinness World Records entry for "world's fastest production pickup truck."
